Do you understand women yet? If you're married, has your understanding increased relative to the length of your marriage, or you still don't get them?
Pure Myrrh
The key to understanding women is to understand that they cannot be understood. Understand?

Nonsense. Women are very easy to understand so long as you're willing to listen and suspend disbelief.

Yes, I understand. Personally, I wouldn't even try to understand them.

Men are fairly easy to understand. Women are more complex and therefore men find it difficult to understand us. smart.gif

What do you mean by that?

Well who knows objectively speaking, really. But men are easier for women to understand than women are for men to understand. Therefore practically speaking, men are easier to understand. It could have nothing to do with men and simply be a reflection of the people reading skills of women. But it all boils down to the same thing.

Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that men don't try as hard to understand. If in fact that is a fact?

No, I don't. Because there are men who have tried really hard to understand women but still can't.

If you want to understand what motivates women and why we act differently (this is not a full explanation but does offer some insight), I highly recommend Pinker's "How The Mind Works" - the Family Values chapter.

I know what motivates my wife, but I think the problem is that men are more like each other than women are like women. So Even if you understand Candy, there's no guarantee that you will understand Destiny.

Not to mention Charity, Repentance, and Prayer, which tear up the evil of the decree.

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I argue though that the underlying motivations of women are similar much the same way men's are. Women don't have to get to know each woman before figuring out what motivates her. But if you can only scratch the surface, a pretty good strategy is to forget about all women and focus on the one you're married to/involved with. That tends to have more results in terms of what you're looking to achieve. Understanding what motivates all women is a feat that may be impossible for some men to master completely, and for others simply isn't worth the effort.

Psychodad, you impress me more every day! Well said.

I think you may have a point, Brianna, but do you think women also perpetuate the claim that we are hard/difficult/impossible to understand? Meaning, do you think maybe we do it on purpose?
