Is a set of high-quality makeup brushes worth it, or are they the same as the $2 ones? Does your makeup actually get applied better because of a better brush? Is it better for your skin?

A high quality brush is softer on your skin, distributes makeup better and will last longer.

i'm yet to find blush that stays, no matter the brush. (here is the trick for eyeshadow - wet the brush before applying it)

My blush stays on all day. I use a primer for eyeshadow (the odd time that I wear it) and that does the trick.

they're all the same if you don't keep them clean.

Does it really not stay, or do you not see it anymore? Like, if you wipe your face with a tissue, will some pink rub off?

... and costs a bloody fortune. Better brushes are way better to use, but note that a good blush brush can be $49 at Sephoras. The prices for good brushes are not worth the quality, IMO.
I have a $12 Rite-Aid set of 8 brushes from 2 years ago, and I always look perfectly fine.

how do you manage it? do you attribute it to the blush brand? which one do you use? what's a primer?

well, i don't see it any more, so that equals to not staying

i never tried wiping it off and see if there is any pink rubs off, but even if it does, it doesn't serve the purprose of being seen.

I really don't know. It usually stays on all night (like Friday night or a night that I'm too tired/lazy to wash my face). I've only ever used one brand, unless you count playing with my mother's makeup. I use Mary Kay. A primer is a cream that you put on before applying the makeup, which probably blocks the pores from absorbing the makeup or something really unhealthy like that.

I bought a $100 Sephora professional brush set that included eight really high quality brushes and a leather case. There are good deals to be had - you just have to wait for the right limited edition set to come out.

what do you need 8 brushes for? (and who cares about the leather case? i'd rather do without it and save $20)

Knowing Sephoras prices, I see that it is a good deal - but 100 BUCKS?!

1. Foundation powder brush
2. Blush brush
3. Eye shadow brush A
3. Eye shadow brush B (blending, gd knows what)
4. Eyebrow brush
5. Lip brush
6. Concealer brush
Etc etc. I typically use brush 1, 3 and 5 for all my stuff.

oooh, i see. well, i need only a blush brush and an eyeshadow brush (and only one - can use two sides for two different colors). and is the latter even better than a cheaper rite aid version?

So I use the blush, eyeshadow (I also use two diff sides for diff colors

) and lip brushes too. And although I'm sure that expensive brands MAY be better, I can't imagine them being worth their price. Like I said earlier, my entire set of brushes was about 12 bucks, with a great case for them...

I don't use any brushes at all.
I don't wear blush, I use cream eyeshadow that i apply with my fingers and liquid foundation that I shmear with a sponge or my fingers as well.
It look perfectly fine, and I've been told that my makeup looks good and natural.

I bought brushes in the body shops, most expensive was prob £10, plus i only bought the foundation brush, blusher brush, two eyeshadows and lipbrush. They can multitask. Best care practice is to wash with a drop of normal shampoo every so often (dpending on your usage) rub in with water, rinse and leave to airdry. They can last for ages after taht.

do many women really use lipstick brush? why bother with it if you can just use regular liptsicks?

I ONLY use a lipstick brush! It fills in my lips alot neater than if I used a lipstick. Lipsticks are thick, and if I wanted to get the thin parts of my lips filled in, a brush is the only way to go.
Same goes for lipgloss. If a gloss comes in a pot or a tube, without a wand, then it goes on neater with a brush. If I'll use just one brush for makeup, it'll be my lipbrush.

how interesting. lipstick is the only part of make up i wear every day, but if i were to use a brush, i would stop wearing even that

i always use the slanted part of the lipstick to cover the thin parts.
btw, am i the only one who is bothered by the lipgloss? i love how it looks, but the shaitel (i would imagine hair, too) sticks to it all the time!!!! much more than to the lipstick. argh!

Oh, it's awful. But to me, lipgloss is instant prettiness. If I don't have time or patience for makeup, I'll still dab on gloss.

yeah, that's why out of everything i wear only lipstick (well, it's also the fastest make up to apply). i was talking more lipstick vs lipgloss.

Is there a rav or source you can cite, Red Hare? Because I never heard that applying lip color in any form is allowed - this would be great.
