MK Benizri: Homosexuality Causes Earthquakes

(IsraelNN.com) MK Shlomo Benizri (Shas) caused a tremor Wednesday when he linked between homosexuality and earthquakes. Benizri addressed the subject in the course of a debate in the Knesset plenum on earthquake readiness.

"I suggest that the Knesset inquire into how it can prevent sodomy and thus save us a lot of earthquakes," Benizri said.

He later explained to a reporter that the Gemara calls earthquakes "zevaot" and teaches that they are caused by a number of things, including male homosexuality. "I therefore suggested that in order to limit the damage from earthquakes, it would be better to make fewer laws that encourage sodomy and other perversions, like adoption of children by lesbians," he said.

Oh so that's why San Francisco has earthquakes.

Even if this bs were true, how would lesbians adopting children have anything to do with it? The torah prohibition is very specific. It is not about men having feelings for other men. There is no prohibition against being gay. A specific act is prohibited - that's all. Lesbians and gay guys who only have oral sex are not doing anything that is assur d'oraysa..

He could be quoting Talmud, depending on the definition of Andralomusia and Znus.

From MT 21:8 it seems that society accepting lesbian marriage specifically is assur (because of the source).

For the moment, let's forget gay marriage. A pair of lesbians giving a child who would otherwise be in fostercare a loving home sounds like a good idea to me. I mean it's not as if they are having sex in front of the kid. Would you be equally opposed to a pair of sisters adopting children?

You are teaching a kid (who otherwise would be in fostercare) that being a lesbian is ok.

As of now in this thread I am not opposed to anyone adopting anyone else.

I was only opposing the 'a certain act is prohibited'.

Women don't have the equipment to perform that certain act.

Imitation equipment can be purchased and attached thereto.

That's the point.

Imitation equipment doesn't make you a man which is the only way you can violate the prohibition.

The prohibition you refer to is "don't sleep with a man as you would a woman", but what ladies have the equipment for is assur under "the practices of mitzrayim".
