If you borrow money from someone and the country the currency is from changes currency or changes government so they make new bills, would you have to pay back?
To be clear. Lets say you go to a small foreign country with a friend, and he gives you a wad of the local currency to hold for him. You forget about it, and a few months later you find the money in the small pocket of your backpack. The problem is that those bills are no longer worth anything. Do you have to pay back the value in a valid currency, or can you just give him back those (now worthless) bills?
This is hypothetical.
