SpeedTest.net

You may want to experiment with different test servers. The yellow "best" one isn't always the fastest - also try other nearby ones.

My results:

What's kind of cool is that according to the site, my connection is faster than 98% of all connections worldwide as well as in the USA.

brianna
Mine ranks pretty highly too, even on a wireless connection. Optimum Online.

Why are my results so slow?

These are the numbers from my home laptop. Funny thing is that when I just tried it from my work laptop (working from home today due to the snow) the download speed was just under 6000 kb/s. How can that be? It's the same internet connection.

Do you think the fact that I'm connecting though VPN on my work laptop accounts for the big difference?

I envy PM's Internet connection.

was it not noticed or do people just don't mind that their provider and location pops up as well?

Apparently not. But it my case at least, I knew that my location [my first name, my HS, my shul...] are known, so I figured it's ok. That my Internet provider is Rogers I figured isn't that too revelatory.
The other thing is, isn't there an option to select a city that is remote for purposes of the test, so it's not a slam dunk anyway for people who want to obscure their general location.

Anyway, with one exception, I think the general location of all the people who have posted their results was public knowledge previously.

Wait. This is OLD. From August.

The more current tests to Fredrick are better. Though still terrible.

(I do know why though....so no use complaining.)

Apparently. Although I don't have much idea about what any of this means.

From work:

This is why I can get so much more done at the office vs. working from home. I just wish Verizon could offer me these speeds from my home.

I think this thread should be immediately deleted because it might lead to jealousy for those people who have slower connections, or even worse it may encourage people who can't afford it to order a faster line so they don't feel inferior to everyone else thereby taking food out of their children's mouths....

This is one of the most insensitive and offensive threads posted on H.com in quite some time.....

Hardly laugh.gif But most large companies have T1 lines that are very fast.

Okay new rule:

Only HOME connections count.

Hey looks like I'm winning again!
