I guess the question is clear. I would also like to know why and what do you think is the correct Jewish response to this.

I'll throw an example just to make sure. Let's say you're a classical singer, would you refuse to sing "Ave Maria" or something similar even if it was clear that the primary motivation for performing the piece is artistic rather than religious and that your performance does not really say anything about your believes?
