Full Version: Which situation is more embarrassing?

Very Lucky Guy
You are a guest for shabbos lunch. You have never been to the host's house before, and it is quite large. You excuse yourself to the restroom, but soon realize you don't know where it is. After wandering around for a bit, you round the corner to a hallway and notice the edge of a bathtub through a crack in a door. You have found the bathroom - only to discover it is occupied and its occupant did not close or lock the door sufficiently.

Please vote for which situation is more embarrassing to you the guest.

I wouldn't be embarrassed by either, if anyone would be embarrassed it would be them....

And as for #1 why is that any different than seeing someone using a urinal in the men's room???
Teeny Beeny
It would be more embarrassing the bathroom occupant were female. But they usually lock doors. It would be pretty embarrassing - for both parties -if it were a female discovering the man in the bathroom.

I'd probably be embarrassed to see said person in an embarrassing situation.

I think the toupee is more embarrassing.

Walking in on someone going to the bathroom is bad, but it happens. The person in there gives a start, the person walking in mumbles "sorry" really quickly and pretends he didn't see anything and you all pretend like it never happened. Eventually, you forget about it and it's like it never happened. Plus, everyone goes to the bathroom, so eventhough it is an embarrassing situation, you aren't privy to some secret information.

Now, seeing someone adjusting their toupee, that is something else entirely. You now know this guy's secret, and he knows that you know! What do you do then? Sure, you can both pretend nothing happened, but he will always wonder if you are going to tell someone and you will always know that he is wondering about you. The tension will always be there.

Toupee or To pee, that is that question....

he's kidding himself if he thinks no one can tell it's a toupee.

i've been too desensitized with all your other scenarios cuz i don't find this one to be too awful.

You can almost always find the bathroom by looking for a stone or tile threshold protruding from under the door.

Everyone pees so that's not terribly embarressing. Not everyone wears a toupee.

Personally, I like VLG's topics lately better than in the past. Currently, he asks something you can actually believe would happen and have to work out (similar to spot's Shidduch topic). It actually can be a good mental exercise. Before, it was much more difficult to imagine and come up with a reaction.

Thank you. I really appreciate that. I was beginning to doubt myself.
