single membership
do you use your gym regularly? would you recommend your gym to someone else?
yes, I use it regularly and would definitely recommend it to others.
why did you choose a gym over a workout video or workout machine at home?
I'm not motivated enough to work out at home. I need to work out with a group or at least with one other person. I need to be able to compete with other people in the class. It's the only way I'll push myself.
I also enjoy the social aspect of the gym. It's the only way I manage to meet new people.

$45/month
is that the average price range for your area? did you pick this gym for price or the gym itself?

I'm paying $69.00 a month.
I like to use the specialized weight training equipment.
The different group exercise classes are very popular although I don't join in.

I picked it because of all the classes they offer and I like the fact that they have several branches in the area and 2 are women only. They're very good about constantly upgrading the gym and everything is in great condition.
$45 is a fairly decent price for this area, especially for all this place offers.

Yes, many gyms have this. However, it's always possible to get out of it. When I joined my gym, I told them that I was willing to join immediately, but the joining fee was pretty steep. They waived it for me.

After wasting lots of money on a gym membership I rarely used, I bought a couple of cardio and toning DVDs. I don't work out as much as I should, but I definitely do more than if I would only go to the gym.
It's a pity; there are tons of gyms near work, but none are women-only.
I use
this DVD a lot because of its simple routines and 10 minute segments that can be mixed and matched.

In general, a gym membership is not a good thing to get unless you are SURE that you are going to go there regularly; otherwise you're basically throwing money down the drain. After all, it's so easy to make excuses not to go -- you're tired, the weather is bad, you're afraid you won't find any parking, etc.
Working out at home with weights is cheaper, easier to stick to, and more effective than aerobics at the gym.

Depends on the person, I can't stick to at home workouts. It's easier for me to stop when I get tired, or find distractions. Once I'm at the gym, I'm there to work out and I'm going to finish what I started.

Most people I know have problems dragging themselves to the gym. You have to
know yourself and not
kid yourself that you'll go.

Yeah, it can be hard to go. It helps to carpool with someone or have a buddy system. That's what I do.

3 weeks ago I went with a family member to sign him up to join the gym with me.
The salesperson said the initiation fee was $200.00 but because it was Valentine's day it was $29.00 that day.
We took the offer and with a $69 monthly fee.

$250 a year (+$30 one-time registration) for single membership. I try to go about 5 times a week. Definitely recommend, recommend, recommend! There are so many different exersizes you can do with all the equipment at the gym that it is much more entertaining than my living room. Besides, it is uncomfortable to workout at home while my family is eating dinner, doing homework, etc.
