QUOTE
On Jan. 21, Renault-Nissan President and Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn announced in Jerusalem that his company was joining Agassi's Project Better Place in the Israeli market. Israel was chosen, the two said, because it was an ideal testing ground for the electric car. Ninety percent of automobile owners drive fewer than 70km (43.5 miles) per day, and the country's main cities are within 150km (93 miles) of each other.

In a nutshell, you pull into a gas station and they swap out your battery for a fresh fully charged one. Because Israel only has a few gas station chains they could hook up with one or two of them and install battery swapping stations country wide taking away the major drawback from electric cars. It's range.

We have a cute little electric car on campus. It's hysterical; thing putts around leaving little pools of oily residue, but mostly remains parked in prominent locations brightly painted with lettering proclaiming it as a polution-free all-electric car.
