Full Version: I called the National Suicide Prevention Hotline

Feeling really down, I called the National Suicide Prevention Hotline which has been outsourced to a subsidiary of Haliburton in Baghdad.

I told the guy on the phone that I wanted to commit suicide.

He asked me if I could drive a truck.

How did the conversation go that you ended up talking about truck driving? I figure it would make sense if you were depressed because "there is no way I could make a living" and they said even if your skill set isn't first class, you'll get through - you could always drive a truck.

While we are on the topic, I thought I'd add that suicide is a perfectly logical reaction to the human problem. I thought I'd add that, but decided not to. Don't want to give anyone any ideas. That said, things might start to look brighter if you just wait. Give it about six months.

Sorry, I hadn't read the Feb. 10th post when I put mine in. Sorry it looks like I am plagiarizing, but had I read that post I wouldn't have for all intents duplicated it. Someone beat me to the punch fair and square and I have egg on my face.

This was 100% intended to be a joke. Halliburton doesn't really have an outsource contract to answer the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and the hotline is not answered in Baghdad.

The Shitites and the Sunis were using explosive laden trucks and suicide drivers, so I really assumed that everyone would get the joke.

If I was really suicidal, which I sometimes could be if circumstances didn't make it impractical, I would not post my problems the humor section.
