Yep.

Oh yeah, I meant to post this: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/Genera...n+March+++.html

It's great because downtown doesn't have so many places. Guess the may compete a bit with Essex on Coney. Would have been nice 5 years ago when I worked downtown. There is also a Kosher Subway opening up in my old neighborhood in Queens... Bezalel, enjoy!

Or tomorrow:
"The OU is supervising the kashrut certification of the newest Subway to become kosher, located not far from Wall Street, beginning from Wednesday, March 5." as noted on the YeshivaWorld website.

Cool! I think there's an H.com member that was looking into opening a Kosher Subway in Midtown, but I guess it never happened.

First of all, not today but tomorrow and I found it out the hard way. Second of all, it's about half way to New Jersey so "right next to Wall St" is a bit misleading ...

I think you mean it's about halfway to Brooklyn. Jersey's on the other side of Broadway. smile.gif

Yeah, that's a half-block from my apartment. I'm sure I'll go there once or twice.

Ha! That reminds me of when I first started working downtown and tried looking for the Wall Street Synagogue on Wall St!

Sounds really cool. Of course it won't be a "real" subway. No cheese, I'd imagine. Plus they won't be able to serve the usual mass produced crud they serve at the other Subway shops. And I can't imagine they will be charging less than $10 for a sandwich. But overall, great idea.

I don't see why deli and grilled chicken necessarily has to be crud. All the food is prepared in advance, so it's not like it's going to be lesser quality because it's fast food. I've had several different subs from Kosher Subway and they were all very good, and the prices were also decent. Most people that have eaten at both kosher and non-kosher places felt the food is similar.

In Kansas, a 6" meatball sub was $3.99 plus $3 more if you wanted to make it a footlong.

Just being realistic.

I didn't say it would be. On the contrary, kosher will probably be much higher quality that the usual Subway fare.

Pretty good, fresh ingredients (no time to rot, yet) and while overpriced, bearable (6.99 for meatball sub, 10.99 for chicken and beef fry)

I can't believe I'm reviewing a Subway ...

For the meatball subs I buy that; although I'd like it with pareve cheese which is I'm sure at least $1.50 more. However the regular cold-cut sandwiches like the Italian BMT are delicious but skimpy on the meat for that price. Chicken and beef fry sounds amazing. I heard rumors about a kosher Subway coming to the Upper West Side a few months ago but I haven't seen anything materialize.
Red Hare
Note – 122 Water Street, near Wall Street, is a NON Kosher Subway. For the Kosher Subway, walk all the way down Water Street, behind the Bull, to Broad Street.

I have their take out menu, if anyone wants a copy.
