Not to my taste, but I think a trendy person in an apartment decorated with a funky look could make it work.
How would you define funky? Does it matter who is carrying it off?

How are we defining funky? This wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funky wasn't particularly helpful, although I wonder if funky design is an offshoot of funky music.

funky = unusual, unique, maybe avangarde (sp?) - that's for the apartment decor, not conservative
