I've been looking and looking, but I can't seem to find soft taco shells that are kosher. For regular taco shells I always buy the Ortega ones. They also have the kosher taco sauces. Their soft shells aren't kosher though and I can't seem to find any other brand that is. Anyone here have any suggestions?

Isn't a soft taco shell a tortilla? I have bags of them that say "soft taco" on the label.

I get them in the Mexican aisle or in the fridge section. There are lots of Kosher brands.

No, tortillas are different. Taco shells are much smaller and slightly thicker.

Do you mean just corn tortillas? They are available here in Chicago, I can't remember what hechsher it is, or the brand. I find them in the tortilla section in the Mexican aisle, not refrigerated. (we have a lot of Mexicans living here in Chicago)

I found a picture of them at http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51K8...HJL._SS500_.jpg

They do appear to be advertised as tortillas, but if you look at them, they're a lot smaller than regular tortillas.

Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about. There are several brands of tortillas that are very similar to those soft tacos. Azteca (IIRC) makes something very similar.

I just looked on their site. Those do look like the right ones. Which hechscher is on them? I'm wondering if I'll have any luck finding them here in Toronto.

Funny. Nah, we simply don't have the same kind of selection here of kosher foods as there is in New York. There are tons of things you can find kosher in New York that you can't find kosher here.

There are a number of items listed on the COR website that might meet your needs. I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of the kosher 6/7 inch tortillas listed in Toronto supermarkets in the past, most likely Dominion or Loblaws.

Actually, the head of the Mexico City Lakewood Kollel paskened that corn tortillas don't need a hechsher.
