Does goat's milk also come CY and stam? Is there a halachic difference (more stringent or more lenient) regarding goat's milk vs. cow's milk?

All milk needs to be CY....

The question is whether goat's milk has the same level of gub'ment supervision as cow's milk. If it does, the heter should apply, but if not, it needs to be CY....

Makes sense (and is basically what I thought.)

Anyone know anything about the level of supervision of goat milk? (I would imagine that a stronger case could be made for CY goat's milk not be easily available.)

Here's a story that my father tells from about 25-30 years ago:

A woman from Boro Park would be driven to NJ by a driver. One of her children had a serious milk allergy and CY goat milk was difficult to get. The woman would arrive in the mid-afternoon, so that she would be able to do the evening milking on day one and her driver would stay at my grandparents' across the road. The woman got up early the next morning and milked the goats and took the milk home.

From what I understand she'd do 2 milkings, freeze some of the quantities and return when necessary.

[from the random category, I, too, used to milk goats]

there used to be a brand of CY goats milk, it was called goatrition. I haven't seen it in a while, It used to be available in regular grocery stores. As an aside, If it is for an allergic child, there is a possibility that goats milk will also cause a reaction.

I've never seen it. Plus, since I've lived in communities where CY cow's milk was really hard to get, I highly doubt such a community would have CY goat's milk available.

Yes, I know about the allergy info. The question actually came up in a discussion about cow milk allergies but remains hypothetical for exactly the reason you mentioned.

As I'm sure you are aware, not all Jews live in Brooklyn. In fact, I can name at least 10 who don't. [/snarkiness]

Yeah, noticed the "but" but couldn't restrain myself.

Uh oh, here I go again:

Some of us like to keep in mind that we're in golus and not pretend that the Third Temple will be built with a NY zip code.

Nah. Goats don't do so well outside of New York. Not enough trash for them to eat.

Thanks for the info but that clearly doesn't address anyone living in an area where CY is difficult to get.

It has nothing to do with being difficult to get. Either the supervision is sufficient or it isn't......
And no one needs to drink goat milk, most people live their entire lives without ever tasting it....
