My Facebook icon is an Israeli flag. I play multi-player games so lots of people see it. I recently got the following e-mail:

I suggest you change that symbol of zionist hegemony before it gets banned

How do I deal with this?
shaya_getzl
Tell him to go muck his father. But there is no excuse to using that idolatrous symbol, or to visit Facebook for that matter ...

Yeah, Facebook is so dumb, but I like the games.

You don't. You're bound to come into some anti-semitism in your life or in this case anti-zionism. Big deal.

Can you block someone? Report his comment as offensive and then block him?

(I have no idea how Facebook works.)

Er, yeah, do you see me getting hysterical or anything? I just thought maybe someone had a clever comeback for situations like these that I might be able to use.

I'm not sure how Facebook works either, but it's not like this guy is harassing me or anything -- it was just one message.

I changed my icon. It's not worth the hassle.

The hassle of getting e-mails like I cited above.

I'm not freaking out over it, but when I first read it my heart skipped a beat.

I'm always fighting off anti-semitism and doing Hasbara on my campus, so I've build up a small library of quick funny retorts. But it doesnt look like they gave you any information about them. Don't be fooled by stupid liberals and Arabs trying to intimidate on Facebook. you can certainly NOT get kicked off facebook for having an Israeli flag as your profile picture. You could certainly get certain facebook groups removed for supporting terrorism and violence.

Thank you. That makes me feel better. smile.gif

Sometimes anti semites come in a Jewish group and write stuff. They just want to get people fired up. I'm not sure what's best to do, respond or ignore them. Probably both depending on the situation

Tell them that if they have any issues with jews then they shouldn't be using facebook. It was created by a jew.

Good one. But the problem is that these sorts of people will tell you they have nothing against Jews per se, only the Zionist occupiers.

1. Someone mentioned wearing a yellow star
2. Changing the avatar to HIS picture would likely get the point across to the nazi scum who complained
3. Like it or not, he DID have a method of dealing with "antisemitism"...

1. I think a grand total of over 8 million people wore a yellow star at some point. OK, so he's one of the very few who wore it out of their own volition...
2. Nah. The "Nazi scum" who complained is way too stupid/ignorant to realize whose picture it is.
3. Too bad everything he knew about fighting for Jewish rights he learned from watching Rambo III.

Welcome to facebook, I receive hate mail calling me an Arab murderer and was banned for a week for reporting him and telling him off wink3.gif
Seriously, don't let it get to you, you can change the options that nobody but friends can send you a message or view your profile. You become shut off to them.

If you have his name we can make a group praising him, seems to be in the thing these days

The problem is that there's a chat in this game -- so it's not like he even has to message me.

Seems like every idiot gets his own group these days.
If its a chat there is nothing you can really do but just block him but that won;t stop the next person from commenting on such a pic. Don't let it get to you and forget the comment. Facebook is full of it and they won't do anything to stop it, look at the group praising the murderer of the Mercaz HaRav attack....
