What is the one most important thing that you do/ prepare/ acquire l'chvod shabbat?
melech
1. Make sure there's money in the bank. My wife does everything else.

2. I write what time shabbos starts on our kitchen bulletin board.

That's about it.

Edited. Reason for edit: typo correction.
Classic
Breathe, stay calm, and remind myself that it won't make a difference when Shabbos comes in if I didn't manage to do some of the things on my list. As long as there's something to eat and the candles are lit, everything will be just fine.

Try to take a nap so that my kinderlach have a well-rested mommy, unfortunately over the last year that has rarely happened (previously I always got one, even just a 20 min one)

1. What will you do with it on Shabbos? Why is this l'chvod SHabbas?
2. Don't you have a magnet to tell you?

1. Because my wife needs to be able to buy wine, chicken, and spelt flour. But you're right, we generally do our shopping before shabbat actually starts. But it's still lichvod shabbos koydesh.
2. It's one of those dry erase boards. from Ikea, I think. that's where we all write notes and messages.

1. Ok. Got it. What about the phone bill? Do you put $ in the bank for that? Where does that fit in?
2. But, don't you have a magnet for the whole year, why do you need to re-write the info?

1. Yes, the phone bill gets paid out of my bank account. We use the phone to call the eruv hotline every Friday so I guess that would count too. My list of purchases [wine, chicken, flour] was meant to be illustrative rather than exhaustive.
2. Oh, I get it now. The dry erase board is for immediate attention. So I write when shabbat is starting and ending each week.

Shave my head. It's become a ritual of sorts.

Well, leaves certainly don't fall by happenstance. But I blame my mommy for this latest one: I'm multitasking typing and eating her soup she brought me.

I can't think of any one thing that would be more important than the others. Hide the 10 foot pile of bills.
