I was one of a number of people who recently met with a well-known person in the Chevra Kadisha world, he mentioned that most people these days don't own funeral plots.

Do you find that this is true? Do you think it's important? Do you think your family members should know where and how you'd like to buried? Do you know such information about your close relatives?

eta: Does your shul own a cemetery or a section? Do you plan (hopefully after 120) to make use of it? Elsewhere? Are you a member of a chevra or landsmanschaften-type group?

I don't, I don't think my parents do, I know my grandparents and great grandparents had it taken care of by various organizations.....

I think it's fairly simple in Israel to get a plot, so most people don't in advance, unless they want to be together with family, or in a place like Har Hazeisim which is not so easy at the last minute...
