One of my biggest issues in this scandal is that I'm having a hard time understanding how Mrs. Governor is backing her man. Can someone explain it to me?

Would you stand behind your spouse if this happened to him/her? I would never. I can't even understand it.
Pure Myrrh
After all this it sounds like behind him is the safest place to stand....
Nechama
If you look at her face... it said it all about what she is really thinking.

I think its too early to tell if she is going to stand with him. On TV they have been showing other clips of wifes with their famous cheating/accused husbands, and Mrs ex-NJ Governor as well. It seems very political, and that at this point its just all a forced choreographed showing and a whirlwind of events. In a few weeks we'll see what she really does, right now I think its all a show.

Fairly or not, she would have been scrutinized more for NOT standing there with him. Either way, I agree it says nothing about how she feels.

i think a lot of women took their cue from hilary clinton when she stayed with her husband.

I agree. By standing up there, she avoids having the media hunt her and ask even more questions.

why not?

why not?

Because whether or not it is true, the impression Hillary gives off is that she stays with him for political reasons more than for the reason that she loves him.

she says she loves him, and if she said it, it must be true.

so you think that as soon as she wins the presidency and runs her 8 years she's gonna dump him?

no because she is someone who will probably in the politcal game all her life. It doesn't stop once her term is over. She still has speaking engagements, book deals, etc. She loses some credibility if she ditches Bill at that stage in the game.

i completely agree. ti's politics, plus, i'm sure, on monday she was still in shock from the news (or maybe she was suspecting something all this time - who knows?) also, i'm sure, she thought about their daughters when doing it. there was a whole article about her standing there yesterday on yahoo, can't find it now.

i disagree. no matter how important her political career is, i don't think she can stand to look at him every day if she didnt' love him, regardless of whether they keep separate rooms or not (i don't know or care if they do, i'm just saying).

That's true, she didn't look too thrilled. But that's not really my question - I don't care what she's thinking, I'm curious how she's not mortified to stand up near her husband who betrayed her like that. If it hadn't been a sex scandal, I'd understand her backing him, but if I'd be in her position, I'd have made it very clear that I'm not with him at all.

Wth? She'd have been scrutinized for NOT being there with her scandalous husband?

oh, please, given her own political career, how often do you think she faces him behind the closed doors? fro all we know, they are just roommates who hardly see each other.

I think she's a cold hearted b1tch so I don't think it would bother her all that much. She seems to be all about doing whatever it is will make her more powerful. I don't think she has emotions like you or I would.

She definitively is mortified- at some point in the more recent press conference he is talking about his wife and reaches for her hand, and her body language is cold and "dont touch me!"

Exactly. So why is she there?

Because their political handlers probably told her to.

Probably because there is so much more to this scandal then people will ever find out. But she deserves worse, for marrying a man who lives with a shiksa ...

huh?

(is she jewish, btw?)
DeepQuest
He is probably not an easy guy to live with anyway, she may have known about his zonah problem and they may have even had an understanding of some sort. Besides, this is her second marriage and she may be sticking it out untill their kids are out of the house. I guess we'll have to wait for the book to come out.

We blame the non-Jew for sins of the Jew?

Do we blame Ruth for marrying a Jew?
