Full Version: Diet Modifications

FYI
Part I: If you were going to try diet modification. How would you go about it to try and determine if food is playing a role in the quality of a person's life? How long would you wait for a result before you admit it's bubba maisas?

Part II: If you started your baby on cow's milk (was nursing+soy formula before) three days ago. Last night, at about 11 p.m. she throws up, do you attribute it to intolerence of milk or the fact that her mother forced her to drink the bottle she didn't want so that she wouldn't wake up in the nighttime which backfired due to the vomiting. Should I worry about a milk intolerance?

Part I and Part II refer to different children.

Id go with that one. Id try the milk formula again for a small meal & watch for reaction.

She has never had milk formula. (This is due to the difficulty and expense it requires to acquire c"y formula. Soy is more price effective and easier to get.)

Does formula have to be kosher for passover? can you kasher plastic baby bottles or do you buy new?

Thank G-d I have not ever had to use formula on Pesach. (one baby 3 months still soley nursing, another 6 - still solely nursing, another a few weeks, still nursing.).

In the past, I always have bought new bottles for Pesach.

Rachel, you ask a rav. Kitniyos for a baby when necessary probably is allowed, but advised to wash separately, but don't take my rav's answer as your psak.

FYI, I would wait a good 6 weeks before thinking it's a bubba maisa because it can take a while to get out of the system.
As for the milk, don't force. See if she'll drink a bit. If she does, monitor her before completely replacing all bottles/drinks with milk. If no reaction, introduce a bit more. If reaction, stop.
