Help me think of a cute Purim costume for my son. He's all big boy and walking now so it has to be something that lets him move easily. Also, I'm short on both time and cash so no store-bought or impressive sewing projects, ok?

(My default this year is a Hawaiian shirt and some jeans and he can be a beach bum but I'd like to come up with something better and just keep that on hand as a backup.)

We got this for this year ( with a coupon I think it was 1/2 off or so) http://www.tystoybox.com/ttp/Care-Bears-Co...luxe+Cheer+Bear

next year if you pay attn all year long you can often get good costumes. One idea may be to borrow from someone who had a kid that age last year, but not this year.

Another is to do plaid button down shirt and jean overalls with a farmers hat. (if he wants something to hold, you can give him a little rake).

Yellow shirt + duct tape = bumble bee

one year I dressed up as a woman actually. The pictures were very embarassing once the alcohol wore off.

face is the best part. For some reason I thought it would be cool to look like an idiot with white makeup/face paint. The rest is just an arab dress.

Cute but not for a boy. (I'm hoping yours is a girl and I didn't just really offend you.)

The plan was to go the day after Halloween but someone tiny got sick and then got two other, bigger people sick and by the time people were well, the costumes were no longer out. dry.gif

Farmer costume is cute. He doesn't have a plaid shirt but that might be fixable.

bob the builder - the same plaid shirt/jeans or pants, but you'll need that type hat

Doesn't only have to be purim time. Sometimes you find them randomly at the store at various times of years, just keep your 'eyes open'.

Plaid shirt you can buy for about $1 at a local thrift store. (I believe I've done this before for that costume.)

Nah, would rather a farmer. We're trying to avoid tv characters.

Of course if all else fails you could wrap the child head to toe in aluminum foil and send him as a frozen burrito...

How about Stevie Wonder? Just get some dark makeup, a small afro wig and sunglasses.

I did that one year - went as a baked potato. tongue.gif

Yingle is a hawaiian chussid this year (party theme)...Im decorating a robe w/ tropical flowers, pairing it w/ lime-green gatkes, and making a technicolored shtreimel w/ payes. Shtreimel's a bit of a potchke, but the rest is pretty simple/comfy.
