what's your recipe?

i made a batch last night. they came out beautiful, but the dough taste isn't all that it can be.
i was looking for something simple and got the recipe online, if i remember right it was:
4 c flour
3 eggs
1 c sugar
1/4 c orange juice
baking soda
6 oz margarine or butter, i put 4

the dough was really sticky and runny after mixing it all together. i let it sit in the fridge overnight and then make the cookies. they came out really pretty and taste ok, but i'd like a better dough recipe. something more crumbly and soft.

Did you use salted butter? If not, a half teaspoon of salt makes sweet things taste better. Also, vanilla extract.

Here are a bunch of recipes.

i used unsalted margarine because i wanted it pareve. i also added a tab of vanilla sugar as i was mixing because it smelled kind of bland.

is that the "second helpings" recipe? if so, it's the one i inherited from my mother. iirc, it needs more flour than the recipe calls for to get the dough to a usable consistency.

ETA: nevermind. the recipe i was thinking of uses oil, not margarine or butter. that said, the flour amount could still be the problem.
