It is, in fact, illegal to advertise for only a female job candidate and to discriminate in hiring on the basis of gender.

Ha, whatever. My company only hires Jews and enforces that by making Hebrew/Yiddish speaking a requirement (either one is fine). Frumness is not enforced, though.

If Hebrew and/or Yiddish are needed for the job, that's fine to require it.
However, there are non-Jews who speak Hebrew (Israeli Arabs, for example). I had an ex-boyfriend who used to chat in Hebrew with the Palestinian guy who worked at the Middle Eastern felafel place down the street.

In any case, it is illegal to discriminate in employment on the basis of gender, race, religion, etc.
